Description
The "Paleface Rose-Mallow" is a small, delicate pink flower that will grace the desert in spring given sufficient winter rains. The flower is about an inch in diameter and the plant was seen in Tucson Mountain Park west of Tucson, Arizona.
The four paintings by Ludwig Seitz found on the ceiling of the Gallery of the Candelabras in the Museo Pio-Clementino of the Vatican Museums inspired me to drop the green background to a monochrome grey to accent the rosy pink and brilliant red center of the flower.
